“MINDLESS MOVEMENT”
DON’T THINK…JUST GO.
Have you ever been in this scenario: just after you wake up, and while you’re still half asleep, you’re thinking about your workout and what type of intervals you’re needing to do, or how many calories you’re going to need to burn, or what core exercises you need to conquer…and then…you become overwhelmed and roll back over to your pillow…?
A powerful productivity tip is to have less choices and get more done. That’s why I’ve created what I call “Mindless Movement”. This is between a 10-20 minute session of you just moving first thing in the morning. That can be on your exercise machine you have at home, or even better, get outside and do a brisk run/walk/bike ride. Even run/walking the dog counts!
Don’t worry about distance or calories, just focus on getting more oxygen in your lungs. If you’re just getting in the routine, then set your watch (or workout tracker) timer for 10 minutes. If after getting out the door and halfway into your 10 minutes you feel like you can do more, GREAT! If not, then know your goal was only 10 minutes, so you have a reason to feel awesome with just that: you achieved your goal! And that means you can do it again the next day! Remember, “smaller goals, bigger wins”.
THE RESULT
More oxygen in your body means better thinking, more energy, and less stress.
Making a habit of it will boost your self esteem because you actually say you’re exercising everyday! Soon, you’ll feel like taking on other goals, like starting to further fine tune your nutrition or even non-health related goals, such as writing that proposal you’ve been putting off, or having that conversation with your boss you should have had months ago.
So what are you waiting for? Don’t think, just get out and move!
